Formating using default Repair & Scan option
Plugin your Pendrive to your PC and follow the below process.
- First of all open This PC Where you will find all your Drives
- Select your Pendrive and right-click on the drive
- Now select the last option Properties and then choose the Tools Tab
- You will find the option to check errors so we first perform an error check
- So simply click on the Check button and select Scan and repair drive
- Once the scan is complete then it will show if it is successful or not with errors if found any.
Format using CHKDSK Command Prompt
CHKDSK is nothing but a check disk command to check the specific drive and has an option to repair or recover the data by using additional commands. so below we are going to use this command.
- Go to Windows search and type CMD
- Now right-click on the command prompt and choose Run as administrator
- Once CMD is opened, type the chkdsk [Space] [Drive Letter]:F and hit enter
- So for example, if my Pendrive letter is Y then this command should be: chkdsk Y:/F
- Here the word F means Format.
- Once the process is done then it will show that the drive has been scanned and found no problem if there are no issues.
In case if your flash drive or pen drive is corrupted badly then these manual methods are not going to show any effects so we will perform a manual method and for this simply follow the below methods and learn.
Format using Disk Management
- Goto search and type Disk management
- It will show you Create & Format Hard disk partition so click on it and open
- Now it will show you the list of all drives on your PC as you can in the below image.
- It will also show the removable disk after the basic disk.
- Simply right-click on the removable disk and select the Format option
- It will ask for confirmation so simply click on Yes.
- Now leave everything as it is and click on OK and it will format your Drive.
Format using Disk part Command prompt
- Open your CMD by searching in the windows search
- Right-click and run as Administrator access
- Now type disk apart and hit enter
- Now again type List Disk and hit enter. It will show the number of the available disks on your PC
- Select your pen drive which will be mostly the second one.
- Now type select disk 1 and hit enter as you can see in the below image the disk 1 is having 14GB which means that it is a pen drive
- Type List partition and hit enter
- Now again type select partition 1 and enter
- Now format the partition so to format: format fs=ntfs quick and hit enter to start formating.
- Once finished it will show you that Diskpart successfully formatted the volume and close CMD.
Minitool Partition Format
- Download the partition wizard software on your PC/Laptop and install it.
- Once installed open the software it looks familiar to the Disk management
- Now select your Pendrive on the mini tool and right-click on it. In the below image you can see that drive 2 is an external drive.
- Now select the option format and enter partition label, File system as NTFS and cluster size as default, and click on ok
- Now it will ask for the confirmation so click on apply and it will start formating your Pendrive.
